Hobbies
Some things I enjoy outside of code.
Punch
My cat — gentle, food-obsessed, and terrified of other cats.

Punch was born in September 2018 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and came to me from a rescue shelter. He's about as gentle as a cat gets — he's never once bitten anyone, and he's not even fazed by dogs. Other cats, on the other hand, terrify him.
He's endlessly food-motivated — there's nothing he won't do for a snack — and he's easily entertained by a wiggling foot under a blanket, which he treats as a toy on sight.
Skiing
Chasing sunset chairlift views, and loving the process of learning all over again.

One of my favorite parts of skiing is riding the chairlift at sunset — the view up there is just beautiful. I enjoy snowboarding too, though I'm not chasing top-level skill or difficult tricks. Mostly I just love the feeling of freely gliding down a mountain.
But honestly, what I enjoy even more than skiing itself is the process of just starting to learn. It's like being a kid learning to walk all over again — suddenly you can barely stand up, but every time you fall, you get back up, and little by little it starts to click. Going from barely able to stand to running and jumping — it feels a lot like life: everything is hardest at the beginning, but if you're not afraid of the hard work, you'll get there.
